Ultra Sawt is an Arab digital media network, launched on August 30, 2015, as a youth-focused platform providing professional and reliable Arabic journalism. It covers political, social, and cultural developments across the Arab world and offers an open space for discussion on issues that matter to young people and Arab audiences more broadly, across different interests and backgrounds.
From the beginning, UltraSawt has been committed to professional journalism, freedom of the press and expression, as well as the values of freedom, democracy, social justice, and respect for human rights.It is committed to supporting causes across the Arab world, while maintaining its editorial independence and upholding professional standards in its journalism.
Ultra Sawt started as a digital news and analysis website before growing into a network of specialized local platforms, including Ultra Palestine, Ultra Tunisia, Ultra Sudan, Ultra Algeria, Ultra Iraq and Ultra Syria.
These platforms focus on local journalism, following events and issues at the community level and staying close to people’s concerns, daily lives, and challenges. They pay particular attention to young people, their aspirations, and the changes taking place in their societies, offering professional coverage that helps audiences understand local realities and follow the most important issues and developments.
As part of its efforts to explore new forms of journalism and knowledge-sharing, UltraSawt launched Megazine, a project that combines the speed and energy of a modern digital publication with the depth and reflection of a magazine. Megazine follows a “context first” approach, looking at current issues through their social, political, and historical contexts. It also creates space for ideas, knowledge, and the arts, with contributions from journalists, writers, researchers, and creatives from different countries and backgrounds.
Ultra Sawt is run by a team of journalists, editors, and professionals working in media, digital communications, and social media, alongside designers and content producers. Together, they work to develop new forms of digital journalism and respond to the fast-changing ways in which media is produced and consumed.
Since its launch, Ultra Sawt has built a wide network of journalists, writers, and contributors from across the Arab world. More than 1,000 Arab journalists, writers, and creatives have contributed to the network. Ultra Sawt and its journalists have also received a number of local and international awards and recognition for the quality of their journalism and their work across different media formats.
